  • Fast ignition: birch lights easily and delivers heat almost instantly
  • Vibrant flame display: bright yellow to orange flames bring the fire to life

What is Ready to Burn certification?

Ready to Burn is the UK's official certification for firewood and solid fuels with a moisture content of 20% or below. All our kiln dried logs carry the Ready to Burn mark, which means they are approved for sale in England under the government's air quality regulations and ready to burn straight away with no drying time needed. Choosing Ready to Burn certified logs means a cleaner, more efficient fire with less smoke, less tar build up in your chimney and more heat from every log.

How long can you typically burn with one full pallet?

With a full pallet of approx. 800 kg kiln dried birch logs, you can expect 266 to 400 hours of burning. Based on daily use of 3 hours, this equates to roughly 3 to 4 months of warmth. The exact duration depends on the type of stove or fireplace and the insulation of your home.

Which type of stove or fireplace is birch wood suitable for?

These 25 cm birch logs are ideal for:

  • Insert fireplaces and built-in fireplaces
  • Soapstone stoves
  • Open fireplaces
  • Small to medium-sized wood burning stoves
  • Pizza ovens
  • Outdoor stoves

Which accessories do you need to use this wood efficiently?

When lighting your stove, use firelighters and kindling for an effortless start. A log basket or log store for indoors is also very handy. For best results, a moisture meter is useful to ensure the wood stays dry during outdoor storage.

What is the best way to store kiln dried birch logs to maintain their quality?

Always store firewood in a dry, well-ventilated spot. Preferably keep the pallet on its original pallet base or packaging and protect it from direct rainfall using a cover or tarpaulin. Always ensure adequate air circulation so the wood does not absorb moisture again.

Very good
Review by Karoline
The wood is very dry and the pieces are 25 cm long, as ordered. The pallet has a high centre of gravity, so it may tip over on poor roads or in potholes. It is best for two people to move or hold it in place.

Dry wood, log length as ordered. I’m very satisfied.

I don’t think there’s anything you can do about the wobbly pallet caused by its high centre of gravity, though. You’ll just have to be a bit careful.

Review by Jordy
Very pleased with the order and delivery. Ordered before 4.00 pm on a working day, delivered early the following afternoon. The driver was very helpful and had neatly placed the pallet in front of the garage. This is the fourth year running I’ve ordered from them, and I’ll continue to do so. A truly excellent company.

Review by Vandyck
This was the first time I’ve ordered from you, and it certainly won’t be the last
OK, there are a few thicker pieces in there, but they’ll go straight into the stove – at first
glance into the lorry, I told the driver it was lovely wood.
By the way, he was a very friendly, helpful man; together we got the order
into the garden. A very helpful man and a very satisfied customer.
Kind regards, and I’ll definitely be placing my next order – you’ve won my trust.

Delivery wasn't as good as usual
Review by Stoop Marleen
Delivered too early
I was told on the phone that they would deliver from 1.30 pm, but the delivery was left at the garage door before 1.30 pm, uncovered, and it was raining and hailing.
I contacted the delivery company, who apologised profusely but couldn’t help me. The delivery note, which I found on the street, was soaking wet and stated that they had delivered at 2 pm.
Nice, dry wood. But it’s in large pieces!!
Review by Karin
Dry wood burns well. The driver arrived right on time and the pallet was delivered neatly.
Compared to previous deliveries, there were a lot of large pieces of wood, which we still need to split.
Good delivery, but probably not properly dry.
Review by Fred van Leeuwarden
Perfect delivery, right place. The wood is sometimes a bit rough. It’s good for me to do a bit of splitting.
I’ve always ordered this birch wood, and always in this quantity (a whole pallet). However, this ‘batch’ probably isn’t properly dry. I have to chop it into lots of small pieces to get a steady little fire going. If I put a slightly larger log on it, it doesn’t burn through.
I’ve now used the wood from the bottom of the pallet (the last to be stored), but I’ll have to wait and see how the “later” wood turns out.
Extra bits of wood and firelogs: great, nice.
Better next time, because it’s always a good “story”. This time, not so much.

Perfect pieces of wood. With the bark still on. Burns brilliantly.
Apart from the finishing touches, highly recommended
Review by Peter
Excellent timber. Delivered right on time, to the requested location and in perfect condition

Nice dry wood with little bark

Lots of large blocks that need to be split. What a shame

Nice wood, but the pieces are far too big
Review by I de Kuiper
I’ve ordered wood from them several times now; it’s nice and dry, the driver arrives on time and places the pallet where agreed.
It’s a shame there are so many pieces of wood that are far too big!
This is a reason why, after many years, I might start looking for a different supplier
Overall, a good experience
Review by Jochen R
This is the second time we’ve ordered. It offers excellent value for money; the wood is really well dried and ready to use straight away. It burns brilliantly and helps maintain a pleasant indoor climate. Some of the logs are quite thick for our liking, despite being the right length; we therefore split about 30 per cent of them by hand. Delivery on a pallet is practical and convenient.

Good quality wood, burns very well, bone-dry, no detectable residual moisture

Some of the logs are a bit too thick for our liking.
