They are compressed wood logs made from clean hardwood sawdust, pressed under high pressure into solid blocks. No glue, no chemicals, just dense, dry wood in a more efficient shape.

You will see heat logs sold under a few different names: eco logs, fuel logs, compressed wood logs, wood briquettes, even just wood fire briquettes. For the most part, they are all variations of the same product, clean hardwood pressed into a solid block. The "eco" name usually emphasises the sustainability angle (wood waste recycled into fuel), while "fuel logs" and "heat logs" describe what they are for. All our products are made from clean, untreated hardwood and are Ready to Burn certified.
Most of our heat logs are available in single boxes, bulk bags and full pallets. If you burn regularly through the winter, a pallet works out cheaper per kilo and saves you reordering every few weeks. A full pallet of heat logs also takes up far less space than the equivalent firewood, so it is worth considering even if your storage is tight.
You do not have to choose one or the other. Plenty of our customers light their fire with kiln dried logs, then add a heat log or two later in the evening for a longer, hotter burn. That way you get the atmosphere of a real log fire with the efficiency of a briquette.
If you are new to heat logs, this is the easiest way to start: keep using your regular firewood, and just add a heat log when you want a bit more heat or a longer burn before bed.

It depends on what you want from your fire. Pini Kay briquettes burn the hottest thanks to the airflow hole through the middle. RUF briquettes are a great all-rounder with a steady, predictable burn. Yes — heat logs are made for log burners, multi-fuel stoves and modern Ecodesign appliances. They burn hotter and cleaner than traditional firewood, so they're often a better fit for closed stoves where you can control the air supply.
You can, but you'll get more out of them in a closed wood burner. On an open fire, the higher airflow means they burn through faster and you lose some of the efficiency benefit. They still work fine — just don't expect them to last as long as they would in a stove.
Yes. Heat logs work well in fire pits, chimineas and outdoor stoves. They give off plenty of heat and last longer than a normal log, which is useful for outdoor evenings where you don't want to keep feeding the fire.
Anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours per briquette, depending on the type, your stove and the airflow. Standard Pini Kay or RUF briquettes burn around 2–3 hours. Night briquettes are designed to burn longer, up to 6–8 hours in a properly damped-down stove. That's why they're often called overnight briquettes.
In England, any firewood product sold in volumes under 2m³ must be certified Ready to Burn. That includes heat logs and wood briquettes. All our heat logs carry the Ready to Burn mark, so you can use them anywhere in the UK without issue.
In most cases, yes. Heat logs are made from clean wood waste — sawdust and offcuts that would otherwise be discarded — pressed into briquettes without additives. They're also more efficient per kilo than firewood, so you burn less fuel for the same heat. That's why they're often sold as "eco logs" or "eco briquettes".
Keep them dry. Heat logs are very low in moisture when you get them, but they'll absorb damp from the air over time. A garage, shed, or covered outdoor space works fine. Don't wrap them in plastic — they need to breathe to stay dry.
