RUF briquettes get their name from the original pressing machine used to make them. Wood residue with a moisture content under 10% is compressed under high pressure, releasing the natural lignin in the wood that binds the briquette together, with no added glue or chemicals needed.

Tip! Use a pair of natural firelighters or wood wool firelighters to get started, then place two briquettes side by side with a third on top to create a small tunnel. This allows enough oxygen to circulate for a perfect, efficient burn. Add further briquettes once the fire is established, taking care not to overfill your stove.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of sand in the logs from my new order, which means I’m finding lumps of glass in my stove. It must have been the last batch that was lying on the ground. Otherwise, I’m quite happy with them; they burn really well and give off a lot of heat.

Produces little ash. Burns well.

There was a bit too much sand in it this time.
