Yes — RUF briquettes work in any wood-burning appliance: modern Ecodesign stoves, traditional wood burners, multi-fuel stoves, open fires, chimineas and fire pits. They perform best in closed stoves where you can control the air supply, but they work fine on open fires too (just expect a slightly shorter burn time due to higher airflow). Don't use them in pellet stoves or biomass boilers — those need specific pellet fuel.

If you're seeing a lot of ash from your RUF briquettes, you might have a low-quality product made from recycled or mixed wood — our briquettes use only hardwood sawdust.
Yes. Under UK law, any wood fuel sold in volumes under 2m³ must be Ready to Burn certified. That includes RUF briquettes. All our RUF logs carry the Ready to Burn mark, so you can use them legally anywhere in the UK including Smoke Control Areas.
